Powerful Differentiation Tools

We know that a vast majority of classrooms include readers and writers at many different levels. Storyworks 3  strives to make sure that all your students get the most out of our challenging content.

Support all your learners with our many differentiation tools—from leveled-texts to audio read-alouds and lots more. Try these resources out in your classroom today.

Leveled Texts

Lower-Lexile versions (now called Easier Level) of the Big Read, the Paired Texts, and the Time Machine are available online. Nonfiction features also includes a 2-page Starter Level that works with the most striving readers. Finally, we often include a version of our stories that appeared in Storyworks magazine for grades 4-6. This is a longer and more complex version of our story and is titled “Storyworks 4-6.”

Audio Read-Alouds

We offer two audio tools:

  1.  Read-Alouds, in which a Storyworks author or editor reads a story to your students—ideal for modeling fluency and expression.
  2. Text-to-Speech, which highlights each word on-screen as it is read—helpful for struggling readers and multilingual learners. You’ll find the Text-to-Speech button on the left side of any article.

You can also launch Presentation View to have the words highlighted as they’re read aloud on a projectable version of the story that looks just like it does in your magazines.
